Croatia is not simply where I am from it is where my understanding of the world began.

At twenty-four, I left everything familiar and traveled into the unknown, eventually finding a new home in the coastal town of Newport, Rhode Island. Distance reshapes perspective, and returning to Croatia now years later feels less like revisiting a place and more like engaging in a dialogue between past and present.

A Country of Beauty and Resilience

Croatia is undeniably beautiful, yet its beauty exists alongside economic difficulty. For many, daily life is shaped more by survival than by leisure a reality increasingly familiar across much of the world.

And still, there is grace here. A quiet endurance. A way of finding meaning in simplicity.

I was ten years old when the Yugoslav War began. Growing up during wartime profoundly shaped my perspective on life. In moments of uncertainty, I learned to notice small details, the way light fell across buildings, the stillness of early mornings, the comfort of familiar streets.

Those moments fostered gratitude and an enduring appreciation for simply being present.

They also shaped how I see and photograph the world.

Zagreb: Complexity of a Capital

Zagreb, Croatia’s capital, is a city I lived in for twenty-four years. Like any hometown, it is viewed through a lens of complexity equal parts affection and critique. Yet Zagreb continues to evolve.

The city has been recognized multiple times for hosting one of Europe’s best Christmas markets, and in recent years has invested heavily in cultural programming and public events, some uniquely its own. Zagreb may not demand attention, but it rewards those who linger.

The Adriatic Coast: Enduring and Unmatched

The Croatian coast is among the most beautiful in the world. Having explored much of Europe’s shoreline, this remains a statement I stand by.

The Adriatic is crystalline, the islands feel timeless, and the relationship between land

and sea is deeply harmonious.

Croatia is home to 1,244 islands and islets, of which only 48 are inhabited,

a geography that invites both exploration and solitude.

Cultural Footprints and Quiet Influence

Croatia’s global presence is often understated, yet deeply woven into cultural history. The necktie originated here. Dalmatian dogs trace their name to the Dalmatian coast. The stone used to build the White House was quarried from the island of Brač. Cities like Split have produced world-class athletes, while historic towns such as Hum, with a population of just a few dozen,

quietly hold the title of the smallest town in the world.

More recently, Croatia’s dramatic landscapes became a global stage through productions like Game of Thrones, filmed in Dubrovnik and Split, yet long before the cameras arrived,

these cities carried cinematic presence of their own.

Croatia will always be home in the deepest sense of the word. It is where memory lives, where perspective was formed, and where beauty feels instinctive rather than curated.

As we departed France toward Spain, we stayed just outside Montpellier, where we visited a small lavender field at sunrise. Part 2 of summer travels - SPAIN

Most people like Barcelona a lot better than Madrid, but for me, it was the opposite.

My son is Luka Modric fan (the soccer player) and to see his pure happiness and excitement seeing Real Madrid stadium was priceless. I captured some artistic shots so he can frame them for his room.

We added Toledo to our itinerary out of the blue, and all of us were amazed by the small medieval town, which was once the capital of Spain. Quite cool.

Barcelona's architecture and all the balconies add quite a bit of style and uniqueness.

Even though I am an Artist, I was not aware of how big Gaudí is in Barcelona.For his time, he was a really amazing architect, even beyond our time.

I also was not aware of how many Roman remains there are throughout Spain.

Seville was very much of a surprise as well. With the unique architecture mixed between Spain and Morocco, it ended up as my favorite.

We all learned geography in school, but many of us forget most. I am sure one of them - bye school, bye knowledge lol

So to learn, like it's for the first time, how close Africa (another dream of mine for 30 + years) is to Spain, mind-blowing and quite tempting to detour, lol.

All in all, Spain is great, and I would go back to explore more of the small towns and northern parts of the country.

Last 6 weeks, I have been traveling through 6 countries, road tripping through Europe.

Love the experience, but I have to say it was quite stressful, way more than relaxing.

Today, I wanted to highlight Portugal, which has been on my bucket list for about 20 years. I know, crazy..

I love the artistic side of it all, and how positive and vibrant everything is.

Tiles on homes and streets are super fun, and a unique architectural touch was not lacking.

There are these beautiful purple trees all over Lisboa ( Lisbon ), creating an awesome atmosphere.

A fact about South Portugal: toilet paper goes in the trash, it doesn't get flushed ��

And the coast, with all the rock formations, is the most amazing I've ever seen.

Where are you from and how does that affect your work?

I was born and raised in Zagreb, Croatia. When I was 10, the war in my country started, which caused Yugoslavia to diverse countries that were a part of it.

Growing up in a hostile environment and poor invoked the appreciation of little things in life, which I guess propped me to start noticing details around me to the tiny pieces. The ones that most people just walk by without noticing. It was hard to find motivation in the crashed economy and in a country destroyed by war opportunities were slim, so I created something to aspire for myself. Instead of just seen things walking away from or taking a snap for memory, I rather create a photograph out of it.

Many years later, and finally brave enough to start sharing my photography work with friends,

I discovered that people loved the way I see the world and how I transfer it into art.

That encouraged me to save money and buy a professional camera what it was after all a long waiting dream for mine. Ever since the day I purchased it I haven’t stopped creating.

Describe how art is important to society.

In a thoughtful well-crafted experience, art is uniquely oriented to make the people feel more relaxed and inspired within the atmosphere of the surrounding. Art should be a thought-provoking centerpiece that makes people more connected and where art opens the curiosity of people and breaks down barriers.

It is my ultimate goal to bringing motivation and inspiration to interior surroundings to uplift and connects everyone. With a mission to create a powerful and unique environment and to change the way that we see art; as art is not just there to fill empty spaces, but to enhance the ambiance.

Does art help you in other areas of your life?

Art helps me to reunite my spirit, soul, and body in one. I am deeply connected with my emotions and learning through life's experience, creating a better version of self, daily.

I want to understand and embrace difference, as we are all created unique to compliment each other not hate. To learn from each other not put down.

How do you develop your art skills?

Creating my skills wasn't through a school of photography of any kind.

When something catches my eye I transfer it into art to identify its uniqueness while creating a positive,

calm, and vibrant emotion, encouraging inspirational and motivational art pieces. Either from rustic or flower or something different. It's a detail that has sparked my soul and I want to share that feeling with the world.

What's the purpose or goal of your work?

The purpose of my work/art is to recreate the ambiance of interiors implementing the design in the interest of rousing people's moods in working and living spaces. Life is hard on all of us. I want to create surroundings inspiring so we don’t give up on ourselves but rather embrace challenges and use them to achieve better, never settling for less. After all, it might be a difficult day, moment, but the sun comes up daily so can we.

What do you like about being a photographer?

I love my ability to see my surroundings in detail. I never know when inspiration will spark. Sometimes I can have an hours-long hike and admire nature but not bring anything home that will be transferred into an art piece. Or even visit a City I have never been to before that I will enjoy memories from but no new art to show. And sometimes I can just step outside for a walk with my dog, and there it is, something that I have to put in print.

What inspires you? Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration pretty much everywhere. From a unique flower, leaf, or even a rock to an incredible movement of clouds, ocean, and landscapes. Have I said that I'm a huge cloud lover, especially before or after storms and the bonus is if it's in the evening time, and sunset just creates it so magically. I could spend days watching clouds go by or listening to waves at the beach. But I also find inspiration walking through towns and cities. The rustic style that I love so much, could catch my attention as for me, it brings out the power of the memories of so many stories that are left in the silence of time passed.

How would you describe your photography style?

As my style reflects encouragement while bringing details from surroundings.

You can find my art in many styles, from Macro, Black and White, Landscape, Rustic, Flowers, Clouds, Animals, even Still Life, and not limited to. The pure meaning of my art is for everyone to find possibilities within themself and not stop until achieved.

Did you always want to be an artist?

I have not seen myself as an artist as a kid. I actually wanted to be an astronaut, also I loved soccer so much I wanted to play all day long, every single day. My favorite book growing up was Little Prince and Robinson Crusoe. I was so mesmerized by their adventures and I was jealous of them also. I guess I was always an adventurous spirit person but no I haven’t seen myself as an artist until my late 20s mid 30s. Even then I didn’t qualify myself as an Artist but just me doing my thing as a vent throughout life challenges.

Let’s just separate one of your art pieces, how about this one, what’s the meaning of this art piece?

This slim, shy rose was created to stand out from the black background to bring out the petals' slow but confident reach for the world. I dedicated this rose to my Mom that is no longer with us. She loved flowers and she carried extreme strength of dedication through difficult times in life. Her life was very hard but she showed up for it each day without complaint.

story of Hopsie

It was late August, August 24th, to be exact. I just dropped the kids off on their first day of school. As I was finishing my morning walk with my dog, Bubbles, I noticed a neighbor walking our way, who stopped to say hello. Suddenly and curiously, our dogs followed an unknown scent, followed by one of them picking something up! Quickly, we went to see what engaged them in such activity and realized it was a newborn bunny, actually two of them. One bunny that my friend's dog picked up, unfortunately, passed away in her hand. The other one I quickly grabbed before my dog could put it in her mouth remained breathing in my hand. We searched but couldn't see mommy anywhere. We also found 3 others that hadn’t survived. Our conclusion was they were probably his sisters, as they were quite smaller in size. My kids, especially my daughter, had been begging for a bunny for quite some time, and today on the 1st day of school, they got to come home to a surprise. First things first, how do we feed, and what do we feed a bunny so small, with eyes not yet open!? Google wasn’t helpful through a quick search, which made me call our vet’s office. Maybe they could help and tell us what to do with a wild bunny who lost his entire family.

The vet office told me kitten formula is what I should feed the bunny, and good luck! I had no idea when his last meal was. Quickly, I grabbed a cage that failed for our hamster and made him comfortable in it. I rushed to the pet store and bought kitten formula and all that we needed to attempt to give this bunny a chance to explore the world! Getting formula and feeding him every 2-3 hours throughout day and night was at first a challenge but not the only one. The other challenge came on the day he arrived; how will he keep his body heat while sleeping at night? As he needs his family to curl up with and stay warm. The more research I did, the more challenges arose. Luckily our neighbors had a lizard and an extra heating pad we borrowed in an attempt to keep his body temperature. Bunny survived his first night with us. We named him Hopsie, as that one ended up the winner out of the few we thought of. Every day, there were challenges, and he was developing fast.

Join us in this heartwarming true story about the bunny that teetered between life and death, and hop on to an adventure.

Combining my photography and writing skills, I create this Children's BedTime Story to inspire you and your little ones.

The book was created as an anti-bully. For the kids to develop confidence with who they are as unique individuals and build self-confidence and self-love.

Croatia, even though it’s been there since the 6th century and used the oldest Slavic Script called Glagolitic which was created in the 9th century it is one of the newest countries in the world.

I’m born and raised in Zagreb , Croatia the Capital City but there are so many things I learned about my country after I moved away.

Croatia holds the richest remains o f Neanderthal People in the world, dating back 3.3 million years.

Most people are not aware that Dalmatian Dog is pure Croatia breed going back to the 14th century and that Tie originated in the 17th century from Croatia (necktie- cravat) that became popular in the 1920s.

Croatia is also a home of the smallest town in the world - Hum ,

and a 1st country that build a Pipe Organ that plays by the sea waves in the city of Zadar, Dalmacija.

Nikola Tesla is Croatian born in the small village of Smiljan, Lika his parents had Serbian origin.

Famous Games of Thrones Kings Landing is filmed in Dubrovnik.

For history lovers, one of the last 3 best-preserved colosseums stands in Pula , Istra.

USA White House in DC is building by stone from Island Brac.

Mushroom lovers would love Croatia as it is a home of the biggest truffles .

Zagreb is the newest capital city in Europe and has won 3 years in a row as the best Christmas Market in the whole of Europe.

Zagreb Cathedral is the tallest building in Croatia and its 3 chandeliers that hang inside were once hanged in Las Vegas casino.

Unfortunately, Cathedral was partly destroyed by a strong earthquake in 2020 and it's currently under construction even though it was under decades-long renovation that hasn’t finished.

Croatia has a coastline with 1246 Islands for never-ending exploring and breathtaking views.

And of course, none the less, there’s Soccer, the biggest sport in Croatia which was also a huge part of my growing up as I started playing before I can even remember, ever thought back then it was not a girl sport.

Competing in World Cup FIFA 2018, Croatia was one of the smallest countries in the world ever made it to world cup finals, and lots of people learned about Croatia and where she stands on the World map.

Biggest honor for Croatia and an amazing Luka Modic who become the best soccer player of the World.

Croatia sure is incredible in side out.

Introduction

for me its about emotions..

observing everything surrounding us..

from where my foot is stepping, to where clouds are roll bye so gloriously..

I’m a huge cloud lover and absolutely in love with nature’s / life's doings..

yes, life has crashed me multiple times,

but until I’m crashing into ashes I’ll continue picking myself up..

some of us might rush through that process just as long as we get back up without anyone's notice..

I like to study assiduously every single peace I put back and not always in “place”

I want to feel the cause,

perceive a lesson and yes even the pain.

I want to identify myself on a deeper level each time,

understand the situation and everything involved that occur to the point for the life to shatter..

so every time I’m “whole” again,

ready to face all challenges strong and straight in the face,

of course, I see life differently, don’t we all..

discovering details of surrounding my soul does feel it in the new way, so,

through my art,

I try to capture and create the emotion that caught my attention..
